As we begin to welcome Fall here in New England, we also begin to look forward to visits to the Apple Orchards. Somehow, you always manage to leave with more apples than you could eat in a month. As you are walking out you notice the perfect apple here, and the perfect apple there, and before you know it your bag is overflowing and you find yourself wondering what you should make first; apple crisp, apple pie, apple sauce?
This fall, we want to make baking a little easier for one of our lucky blog readers. Our Apple Pie filling tastes just like you picked the apples and spent hours in the kitchen, so you can save the freshly picked apples you worked so hard to gather and enjoy them as is.

I have made this. it takes a bit of time but so worth it.
Recipe:
ReplyDeleteGet in car,
take the LONG trip to Schat's Bakery in Bishop (5hours),
Purchase ALL of the Stonewall Kitchen Red Pepper Jelly,
Purchase All of their chili cheese bread,
pile everything in the back of car (except 1 loaf of bread & 1 jar of jelly to be left in front seat)
Drive home,
Serves 1, maybe 2
cost per serving.... well if you don't count cost of petrol, it's priceless ;-)
p.s. eat your favorite apple for dessert ;-)

apple crisp - a recipe a friend gave me many years ago. I love it for it takes so much work to clean and cut up all the apples. This would make it so much easier.

ReplyDeleteThe Apple Cranberry Chutney is amazing!!! I have used it on fish, chicken, in desserts, etc. It really is a "Jack Of All Trades" chutney.

the maple applesaucce reminds me of my grandmas homeade...she had a maple tree and would get the syrup right out of it..it was amazing!!! brings back soo many memories;) thank you
